Ever since Geely acquired a controlling stake in Lotus in 2017, the Hethel-based company has been on an upward trend. First amongst which was the Lotus Emira, the final non-electrified sports car.

Following that is some organizational changes. Wuhan Lotus Technology Co.,Ltd. was established in late-2020, with Zhejiang Geely Holding owning a 60% equity in the new company. Wuhan Lotus Technology is responsible for the new headquarters and is currently developing the land with a CNY 3 billion (~RM 1.9 billion) investment.

The new headquarters will cover a 186-acre piece of land in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a built-up area of 390,000 square meters.

According to Chinese media, Lotus will be organizing a ground-breaking event for its new headquarters on 31-August, marking a new start for the company.

Apart from the factory, the new Lotus headquarters will also house office buildings, canteens, hostels, experience centres, as well as conference centres. The new Lotus HQ can accommodate more than 4,000 people.

Not only will the new location will also be home to a factory responsible for manufacturing Lotus sports cars in the future, it will also serve as a global base for Geely and Lotus projects.
